A person died after getting stuck in a plane engine at Amsterdam Airport

One person was killed on Wednesday when a plane engine became stuck at Amsterdam's main airport.

The victim – who has not been publicly identified – was pulled into the engine of the departing KLM Cityhopper Embraer E190 aircraft at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, I mentioned the sun.

The plane, bound for Billund, Denmark, was scheduled to take off at 2:25 p.m. local time, according to FlightAware.

It was not immediately clear whether the victim was a passenger or a crew member.

The airport said in a statement to The Washington Post: “Today, a terrible accident occurred, as a person ended up inside the engine of an airplane.”

“Our thoughts are with the relatives and we care for the passengers and colleagues who witnessed this. The Royal Military Police are currently conducting an investigation,” the update said.

The passengers and crew members who were on board the aircraft at the time of the accident were disembarked and received assistance. The authorities confirmed.

KLM did not immediately respond to The Post's request for additional comment on the incident.

In January 2023, a ground handler at Montgomery Regional Airport was fatally sucked into an airplane engine after being repeatedly warned to keep her distance.

A few months later, in July, another airport worker was sucked into a jet engine at San Antonio International Airport.
