The user buys a new computer and digs deep into his pocket. But he did not pay attention to what he bought there. Because this is definitely not a gaming system. And many say: A gaming laptop would have been a better decision.
A father says his son bought a new computer. He wants to use the device for his studies and also use it to play games. Or as he himself writes:
Of course, the gaming part is what interests him the most, and the fact that he can carry it in his backpack is an added bonus.
He himself explains in his post On RedditHe's not sure what his son bought for so much money and whether you can play with it. Society confirms his fears.
What did the user buy there? The user purchased a mini PC, which you can purchase from Amazon US. The model costs the equivalent of about 800 euros. The newer model is only available on Amazon Germany. The system offers the following specifications:
- Intel i9-12900H
- Intel Iris X graphics
- 32 GB DDR
- 1 TB
- Windows 11 Pro
Can you play with it? The i9-12900H is an older high-end Intel processor as of January 2022. The processor still delivers very good performance today. However, the problem lies in the integrated GPU, because the system only has the graphics unit integrated into the processor, which is Intel Iris Xe Graphics. And this is not the chip that creates fast games.
The Intel Iris Xe Graphics card is quite sufficient for undemanding office tasks and even simple games run without any problems. These integrated graphics chips are used, especially in inexpensive desktop systems, in order to make these systems compact and inexpensive.
But even with the most demanding games, the Intel graphics chip reaches its limits quickly. You can imagine how well the graphics chip performs On YouTube Watching, watching. Many games run at low settings and low resolution (720p). Whether games are really “fun” is another question.
The manufacturer is offering a computer that could revolutionize our daily lives – at a cost equivalent to the cost of a truly powerful gaming PC

How does the community react? I made it very clear that buying such a system without thinking was a stupid decision.
- “Your son has learned a hard lesson. Do your research before buying anything expensive. Maybe he will simply return it.”
- “You definitely can't upgrade the GPU in it. It will probably play games like Valorant and Fortnite, but it won't play modern AAA games. It's definitely not a good PC for gaming.”
Others add that the son should definitely return the device and instead buy a decent gaming laptop for the same money.
More about mini computers: Our editor Benedikt also bought a small computer. In his article, he reveals why he bought the device and what you can do with it. And why aren't games the focus of these small devices:
