Pirates struck out and made some really big loot on their own voyages. Now the treasure must be divided among the crew. But at the sight of gold, silver, jade, pearls and precious stones, the pirates are overcome by unbridled greed, and everyone puts their elbows in and wants to secure the lion's share of the treasure. Welcome to the Lucky Makes Big Booty review by Drew Richards. The game is written by Drew Richards and published by Cosmos.
Lucky Makes Big Booty – Rules of the Game
The game principle is quickly explained: Take turns placing any number of identical Treasure Cards into your hand. When a treasure type is already on display, new cards are placed next to the same loot items that have already been placed, creating decks of up to five cards.
The active player now declares the set of treasures he wants to steal and then rolls the same number of dice as those in that set. If all the dice show a pirate's head, the dice cup is successful and the treasures belong to him.
The greatest treasure leads to victory
But be careful, and always keep an eye on your opponent, because the special thing is that your opponents can also steal the treasures you won from your own screen. Whoever was able to get the most treasure cards at the end is the winner.
Lucky does great looting and the game is fun
To conclude the review: The instructions quickly explain the gameplay which is really very simple. All the game materials are great. The cards are beautifully illustrated in a pirate theme and the dice look like gold nuggets. The open-and-play box with magnetic closure, which can also be used as a dice box, is easy to take with you when traveling and complements the overall excellent impression of the material.
Start playing now!
In fact, the “open and play” idea really works for Lucky: open the box and start playing quickly, it works great. Fun game, push your luck. It's fun to push your luck to the end and get some big loot, or take it too far, have bad luck and walk away empty-handed. But be careful, the game principle already describes it, and you shouldn't expect any tactical depth from Lucky Makes Big Booty. It is and remains a simple dice game and the game doesn't want to be much more than that.
So it really all depends on luck, and anyone who expects more or wants more should stay away from this game. However, anyone who participates in this simple, exciting and entertaining dice game will have a lot of fun with it. It's fun to steal each other's treasure maps, and in our group, kids aged six and up enjoyed being pirates and were able to play very well. This means that Lucky Makes Big Booty is a clear buy recommendation as a kids and family toy.
