Dorfromantik’s full release has been pushed back from mid/late 2021 to spring 2022, but you get plenty of nice content to keep you occupied in the meantime. Toukana Interactive explains in a large update post that the release date has been changed to make way for a third major update with an additional new game mode along with other community wishes.
“This move will not intentionally affect previously announced features and the order of their release, starting with Creative Mode as the next upcoming major update for Dorfromantik,” the developer said. “Conversely, there will be additional content in the form of a third major update with an additional new game mode that we are adding on top of the game itself for anyone who supports us during Early Access.”
We are currently in the Spring 2021 patch cycle, which introduced quality of life and clarity features as well as localization. Once the summer patch cycle kicks off, we’ll have a new creative mode, performance update, and balance upgrade to explore. This is all in development now, so stay tuned for more details.
Toukana Interactive also plans to introduce more tiles, challenges, and special biomes in the Winter Update, along with a new game mode, community challenges, custom seeds, and base customization next year. This is all planned, but not in development at the time of writing.
If you are looking to try Dorfromantik, we recommend it. Jordan called it a “comfortable blend of Carcassonne and islanders” who could play it for hours in his Dorfromantik impressions — and truth be told, he’d probably play it for hours.
