Frequentis implements a modern digital communication system for the Schneebergbahn to improve operations. The technological basis is mobile networks. The new application includes infrastructure, applications and mobile devices.

(red/chuck) The Schneebergbahn line was introduced in Lower Austria in 1897 as the first Austrian railway. Passengers are transported to an altitude of 1800 metres. The railway belongs to the Lower Austria Transport Organization (NÖVOG) and has now replaced the existing train communication system with a robust emergency critical services (MCX) system. As a specialist in secure communications in infrastructures with critical supplies, Frequentis was tasked with the implementation. The new system is currently being used on the Schneebergbahn's Salamander tourist train.

Frequentis introduced an end-to-end system solution from the MissionX portfolio, which is integrated with a 4G network for mission-critical communications. This includes application and management server, mobile applications and control center dispatchers, as well as logging functionality. The solution aims to enable NÖVOG to have seamless and optimized mission-critical communications over 4G for all end users. This extends from the control center to train drivers and other staff on duty.

The Austrian company Frequentis is also a world leader
“The new communications solution improves our operational capabilities and revolutionizes the way we solve critical communications tasks every day. We are delighted to be working with Frequentis on this project,” says Michael Rudlach, Head of Communications Systems at NÖVOG. Frequentis is also a leading Globally, these communications solutions apply to almost all airport areas. A project was recently successfully implemented for Dublin Airport in collaboration with T-Systems (Economic Reports).

“Working with partners like NÖVOG is truly inspiring. We have applied the same cutting-edge technology that forms the basis of the Future Railway Mobile Communications System (FRMCS),” says Tom Karl, Frequentis Vice President of Public Transport. Frequentis is also part of the European transition to FRMCS. Tom Carle of Frequentis adds: “By enabling trains to communicate over a unified 4G network with an additional layer of security, we reduce the need for expensive infrastructure.”
