Actress Jennifer Lawrence spoke to People magazine about how abortion access is the main issue behind her support for Vice President Kamala Harris.
Lawrence, an Oscar-winning actress best known for her starring role in the film adaptation of “The Hunger Games,” has been vocal about her feminist views. In this election, He told People magazine: It is a state where “abortion is literally on the ballot.”
“I’m voting for Kamala Harris because I think she’s a great candidate and I know she’s going to do everything she can to protect reproductive rights,” she told The Hill. “That’s the most important thing, not letting someone who’s going to ban abortion into the White House.”
Lawrence has continued her storytelling career by producing and promoting films through her production company, Excellent Cadaver. She spoke about two documentaries her company will release in 2024, one of which is Zurawski v. Texas. The documentary will look at abortion providers who sued the state of Texas in 2023 and is said to be co-produced with Hillary and Chelsea Clinton.

“Women are dying,” Lawrence said, noting that the film project could “illuminate people’s idea of what abortion is and why some people need abortions — and why it’s so important to keep lawmakers away from families and away from people’s doctors’ offices… These laws are being put in place haphazardly.” [W]“It's for men, not made by health care providers.”
The other documentary, “Bread and Roses,” is directed by Afghan filmmaker Sahra Mani and shows the plight of Afghan women under Taliban rule.

Lawrence hopes these projects will have a political impact, People magazine reported, saying, “Lawrence hopes both films will inspire audiences to call their leaders, donate, volunteer — and most of all, she says, do their civic duty. ‘Take action by voting,’ she says. ‘The most important thing we can do right now is just vote.’”
