The HyperX Cloud Mix 2 is a new gaming headset that aims to support wireless transmission of audio signals, even with low latency. Connection is possible via Bluetooth and a 2.4 GHz dongle is available – low latency is particularly suitable for video games. Battery life depends largely on specific usage and especially on the use of ANC. The maximum audio time when used via Bluetooth and without ANC is 110 hours; with ANC, the playback time is reduced to 70 hours. The low-latency 2.4 GHz connection takes no more than 72 hours. A surround sound mode is available so that the surroundings can still be perceived accordingly.
HP uses 40mm dynamic drivers that can display frequencies between 20 and 20,000 Hz. The microphone is integrated into the body itself – making it a relatively discreet headset that can also be used in everyday life. The 270g headset has memory foam, which promises a high level of comfort. Synthetic leather is used instead of fabric – but this decision ultimately comes down to personal preference.
Since different types of transmission can be used, it is also possible to use it on different systems, including PlayStation 5, PC, Switch, Steam Deck, and, for example, smartphones and tablets. The HyperX Cloud Mix 2 will be available from the end of September for just under $200, and the model is expected to launch in Germany in October for 200 euros. For example, the Cloud Alpha Wireless It is offered for 140 euros..
I have been a journalist for over ten years, mostly in the technology sector. I have worked at Tom's Hardware and ComputerBase, among others, and have also worked at Notebookcheck since 2017. My current focus is particularly on microcomputers and single-board computers like the Raspberry Pi – embedded systems with many possibilities. I also have a passion for all kinds of wearables, especially smartwatches. My main job is as a laboratory engineer, which is why I am never far from scientific connections or the interpretation of complex measurements.
