Plastoplan: Plastics for Energy Transition

Thanks to their freedom of design, lightness, electrical properties and ease of processing, plastics offer good conditions for components in the context of energy conversion. Grässlin, Plastoplan and Lenorplastics want to show how this can be done at Fakuma.

For electric mobility to prevail over current combustion engines, car manufacturers must, among other things, save weight in order to increase the range of vehicles. High-performance plastics are indispensable. In body construction, but also in charging technology in the form of battery trays, cell holders and charging stations, polymer materials accelerate e-mobility.

Such materials are also found in photovoltaic cells and their associated stand-alone chargers: highly impact- and weather-resistant polymers, copolymers and composites can be found in plugs, covers and as enclosure materials for inverters. As floating bodies for floating solar panels, they form the supporting foundation for this type of energy generation.

More and more new applications with tough requirements and challenges emerge every day. The three DACH distribution teams from Plastoplan, Vienna (Austria), Grässlin, Villingen-Schwenningen, and Lenorplastics, Aesch (Switzerland) will present the appropriate materials at Fakuma. In addition to conventional polymers from fossil sources, the range also includes sustainable materials from renewable raw materials.
