Olympic Medalist Steven Nedorosik Competes on 'Dancing with the Stars'

Steven Nedorosik is the first contestant announced for season 33 of Dancing with the Stars.

The exciting announcement that the 25-year-old Worcester, Massachusetts native will be joining the upcoming season was made Thursday on “Good Morning America.”

Nedorosik rose to national prominence at the 2024 Paris Olympics where he won two bronze medals as a pommel horse specialist on the U.S. men's gymnastics team.

Nedorosik's pommel horse score in the team event propelled the U.S. team to third place, securing the men's team its first Olympic medal in 16 years.

Steven Nedorosik, the pommel horse specialist for the U.S. men's gymnastics team who is a breakout star at the 2024 Olympics, is headed to the “Dancing with the Stars” floor as a celebrity competitor.

Nedorosik also made history in the individual pommel horse event, taking bronze and becoming the first American man to medal in the Olympic event in eight years.

Nedoroshik told GMA he hopes to bring some of the pommel horse moves to the ballroom. “I want to add some of those acrobatic moves — maybe a backflip or a handstand. I want to have fun with it,” he said.

Some fans watching his show nicknamed Nedorosik “Clark Kent” after he took off his glasses moments before the show began on the pommel horse, in reference to the change in Superman's costume.

Nedorosic shared on TikTok that he has an eye condition called strabismus, or crossed eyes, which is a misalignment of the eyes that can lead to vision problems, according to Johns Hopkins Medicine.

When asked if he planned to dance with his glasses on, Nedoroshik said, “I might enjoy it—I'm afraid the glasses will fly away… Maybe we could make a gadget, and keep it on our glasses. Maybe we could make a new pair of glasses, to match the theme, right?”

He added that he was “very excited” to head to the dance floor.

Prior to his Olympic moment, Nedorosik graduated from Penn State University in 2020, earning a degree in electrical engineering.

According to USA Gymnastics, Nedorosik has won four U.S. pommel horse titles, tying the record for the most pommel horse championships in U.S. history.
