The iconic “Home Alone” house is for sale, but it comes with some controversy — because despite the brokers' claims, TMZ has learned the movie was not filmed inside.
Julio Macat — The cinematographer of the 1990 Christmas classic — TMZ says… The film's exterior shots were shot at the house now on the market, but they never shot scenes inside the house.
Instead, we're told the movie was shot at then-existing New Trier Township High School in Chicago, on huge sets.

While this may seem like a small difference, the realtors selling the home are clearly using film as a major selling point — including posting a video on social media that implies that scenes like the famous stair-skating moment were actually filmed in the house. Check out the clip…it seems to be making some pretty big claims.
However, the exterior still looks exactly as it did in the movie…and it is, in many ways, a “Home Alone” house – although perhaps not to the extent that many might think. BTW…people online seem confused, with some also pointing out that the movie wasn't actually shot indoors while others are wondering if they still have props from the movie at home.
