Cognex revolutionizes 3D vision technology with an AI-based system

MUNICH (IT BOLTWISE) – Cognex introduces In-Sight L38, a pioneering 3D vision system that sets new standards in factory automation by integrating artificial intelligence.

With the newly developed In-Sight L38 3D image processing system, Cognex introduces the world's first 3D vision system using artificial intelligence (AI). It combines advanced AI, 2D and 3D image processing technologies to meet complex inspection and measurement needs in industrial environments.

“In the world of factory automation, where rapid deployment and reliability are critical success factors, the In-Sight L38 delivers both,” said Karl Gerst, executive vice president of Vision and ID Products at Cognex. “It's more than just a 3D vision system. It's a comprehensive AI-powered solution that sets new standards for quality and performance in automated inspections.

The In-Sight L38 greatly simplifies 3D vision configuration. It uses AI-based tools that work with pre-trained models and application-specific data. Example-based training replaces traditional complex programming processes and simplifies the application development process.

The system's innovative AI-based 3D tools can be set up in minutes and require only 5 to 10 tagged images to automate complex tasks. Users can detect errors and deviations in three dimensions with a single instrument and receive measurement results in real-time units of measurement.
