“AMD Software 23.9.3” is now available. Compatible with PAYDAY 3 and Cyberpunk 2077’s large Temporary Freedom DLC

On September 27, 2023, AMD released a driver for APUs that integrate Radeon RX 5000 series GPUs and RDNA architecture GPUs.AMD smoothware houseNalin Eddietion 23.9.3“(less,houseNalin 239.3) He was released.
This version is a driver compatible with the new multiplayer action game “PAYDAY 3” and the large “Freedom of Temporary Beginning” expansion pack for “Cyberpunk 2077”. Since there are no specific performance claims, we can understand that this is the driver that AMD has confirmed works.

In addition, Adrenalin 23.9.3 includes MeanVarianceNormalization (tensor mean and variance normalization) built into the runtime API for the “Open Neural Network Exchange” (ONNX), and the “stable deployment” of AI for image generation, optimization and its variants. The release indicates that this has been done. However, there is no specific description of the performance improvements here either.

As we mentioned at the beginning, Adrenalin 23.9.3 has, at the time of writing, only released drivers compatible with RDNA generation GPUs and later. It’s difficult to say whether or not drivers for older Polaris and Vega generation GPUs will be available in the future, as there are currently no announcements from AMD.
The RDNA generation is compatible with Radeon RX 5000 series and newer desktop graphics cards. On the other hand, APUs aren’t named RDNA and earlier, and the processor model numbers are complex, so be careful. Roughly speaking, some Ryzen 5000 series notebooks and Ryzen 6000 series APUs and later are equipped with RDNA generation GPUs and later.
When actually downloaded, please go to the AMD driver download page, select the APU model name, and check the Adrenalin 23.9.3 version.

As a side note, “Polaris Radeon RX 580 generation” is specified as the minimum operating environment for temporary freedom, so the reason Adrenalin 23.9.3 was not made available before the RDNA generation is because the DLC is in play. I don’t think it’s because they don’t. Since the previous release of Adrenalin 23.9.2, driver files for GPUs of the RDNA generation and later and those of previous generations have been separated, so handling of the older generation may have gradually changed.
However, Adrenalin 23.9.3 does not fix any major bugs, and only adds support for the previous two games and AI-related improvements. Even if Adrenalin 23.9.3 is not released for RDNA generation GPUs or earlier, it doesn’t appear to have much of an impact in the short term.
Gamers using previous-generation AMD GPUs may be concerned about whether support for the new drivers will end, but it’s important to note that Vega-generation GPUs were integrated into APUs until recently. The Vega generation will be discontinued any time soon. However, there may still be cases in the future where fewer drivers will be available for GPUs older than the RDNA generation.

Please note that PC users using Polaris and Vega generation GPUs with RDNA generation GPUs and later should be aware of the following points from the previous release. Adrenalin 23.9.3 has a separate installer for this environment. The installer for the Polaris/Vega+RDNA environment is not linked to the driver download page, but is linked in the back of the release notes. Typically, this is the environment where a Ryzen 7000 series CPU desktop PC is equipped with a single older generation GPU, so please be careful when downloading it.
