Proton GE Custom, designed by Thomas (“Glorious EggrollCrider, software engineer at Red Hat and publisher of the Nobara custom game distribution, now released in the latest version 8-13. Proton v8, which is based on the Windows Wine environment, serves as Valve’s .0-3 infrastructure. Which also acts as a base for playing the latest AAA titles on Steam on Linux as well as on SteamOS.
The experimental proton serves as a starting point
As usual, Proton GE Custom (“GE-Proton”) in Release 8-13 is based on the latest Proton Experimental release, which in turn is based on the latest stable release of the software. As always, the current release of Wine 8.x serves as the foundation. Plus the powerful DirectX compiler to Vulkan DXVK 2.2.
Ancestral: Proton 8.0-3 → experimental proton → G Proton 8-13
Building on Proton 8.0-3, which also serves as the basis for the Proton GE Custom 8-13 fork, Valve is once again integrating several new experimental features with the new Proton Experimental, which will now be tested by players in field tests. Meanwhile, the base of supported games grows to more than 10,000 titles, like the database Proton db documented.
GE Proton 8-12 and 8-13 in a twin pack

- alternative
Important core components VKD3D-Proton and DXVK-Git have also been updated, while the latest Wine and Proton patches are included in the release.
