Gaming laptops are now in stores

Slowly but surely, more and more new products from CES 2023 are hitting retail. With the ASUS ROG Strix G18 and G16, you can expect two gaming laptops that want to deliver results with solid performance and efficient cooling.

ASUS ROG Strix G18 and G16 in detail

At CES 2023, the ASUS ROG Strix G18 and G16 featured two highlights among the manufacturer’s gaming laptop innovations. As announced, the G18 (G814J) and G16 (G614J) are now commercially available and impress with their powerful performance and smart cooling.

Both are powered by the current NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 graphics processor with advanced Optimus technology, with the maximum GeForce RTX 4080 installed. The thirteenth generation Intel Core i9-13980HX processor is used as the processor on top. There’s also a fast PCIe 4 SSD and up to 32GB of DDR5 memory with 4800MHz.

The newly integrated full-width heatsink, whose cooling fins ensure more efficient cooling, can be moved closer to the fan slots thanks to the newly designed mainboard. With Conductonaut Extreme Liquid Metal on the CPU, triple fan technology, ambient air vents and intelligent cooling, maximum performance is available even at high loads.

In terms of audio, both devices like to record with Dolby Atmos Virtual Surround and ASUS AI Noise Canceling, filtering out background noise from the microphones.

ASUS ROG Strix G18 and G16 come with up to QHD 240Hz Nebula display, 16:10 format with 500 nits of brightness and 100 percent DCI-P3 coverage. Provides a response time of only 3 ms. It also features Aura Sync-compatible RGB lighting for each keyboard key, a light bar, and customizable shield covers.

It remains to be seen if it can compete with the ASUS ROG Zephyrus M16, despite its somewhat weaker GPU. In our testing at the end of February, it scored an outstanding performance, not least thanks to the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090.
