Manufacturer Audio Physic, based in Brilon, Sauerland, presents the new incarnation of the award-winning Avantera floor-mounted speaker in a current press release. According to Audio Physic, the so-called “Power Train” technology was used for the first time on this model.
Audio Physic Avantera: Where is the power train headed?
“Power Train” is what Audio Physic calls its off-center structure technology, as you can already see from the sample cardias Known. The manufacturer is convinced that this leads to a very efficient and unrestrained transfer of kinetic energy – as a result, a “wonderful natural” reproduction of music is provided. Now almost a third cheaper Avantera (To test out the old Audio Physic Avantera go here) is also equipped with “Power Train” mid-range drivers.
Depending on the version, the Audio Physic Avantera is a four-way speaker weighing at least 40 kg with an asymmetrical multi-sandwich enclosure. Exterior siding is optionally available as a synthetic rubber and glass composite or as a rubber wood veneer panel composite. Combined with the high-tech honeycomb panels and ceramic foam insulation elements inside the speaker, this should result in a very rigid, well-damped enclosure.
Four roads — and engines — lead to the goal. These are laid out differently in the current version than in their predecessors. The new Audio Physic Avantera is equipped with a 28cm driver for bass and 18cm for mid-range bass: the tweeter is powered inside from the housing with a measured distance to the side wall and a downward-pointing bass reflex tunnel (bottom fire). The 18er, on the other hand, sits atop the front woofer and is flanked by a 15cm midrange driver and tweeter, the latter being separated from the housing via a special mounting plate.
Compared to the previous model, the contacts for the tweeter, midrange tweeter, call terminal and crossover have also been revised – including newly developed capacitors with copper foam contacts.
The new Avantera will be available from November 28 this year.
