After a long hiatus, Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and DB Weiss return with 3 Body Issues on Netflix. Now there's a new trailer for the sci-fi series.
With “3 Body Trouble,” David Benioff and D. B. Weiss dedicate themselves to creating another best-selling novel after “Game of Thrones.” But this time they are not in the world of fantasy, but rather they are telling a science fiction story that takes place several decades ago.
Based on Cixin Liu's “Trisolaris” trilogy, the first season of the new Netflix series takes up the first novel, “The Three Suns,” and should be followed by two more seasons in a best-case scenario. Ahead of Season 1 debuting on March 21, 2024 and premiering at SXSW on March 8, Netflix has now released a new trailer that focuses primarily on the global dimensions of the story.
Netflix's next hit?
While the Chinese novel also mostly features main characters from China, Benioff and Weiss moved large portions of the plot to Great Britain and adapted significantly different characters. The well-known framework story from the books appears to remain largely intact, but fans of Cixin Liu's books may get their money's worth from the Chinese “Three-Body” series.
With a budget of $160 million for the first season, Netflix is investing a lot and of course hoping for a huge success. We'll find out at the end of March whether “3 Body Issue” ultimately offers more than just a good spot on the streaming service's top 10 list.
