Today I am proud to present to you Walter Helpling’s book We Are Drowning in a Committee this time.
A title that leaves you confused about it at first glance, and its true meaning becomes clear only after reading the book. Education – is this a sectoral issue? No. It quickly becomes clear that this topic is surrounded by a complex web of responsibilities and planning scenarios, including policy guidelines, that go beyond education. Added to this is the educational federalism of the federal states, which we all know …
“We are reviewing this time in a panel,” and this was especially true of the Local Elementary Schools Action Alliance. The actual anxiety was soon imposed by planning scenarios at a higher level, which were assumed to be fundamental and irreversible decisions of a political / ideological nature, and the “parliamentary process”, clarity and endless time windows played a very special role.
From this position, a concrete plan arose in 2018 to document this topic and to deal with it politically as accurately as possible, to draw a map of this mechanism. The main concern of this book is to present what has changed in the political consciousness of the rural population in the state of Saxony-Anhalt in the years 2010-2020.
Therefore, the phrase “this time we are entering a committee” relies on an unusual form of citing sources. Direct links to the mentioned data / sources appear in different sections, supported by the QR Code.
The reason for this form of citing the source is as follows: It is difficult to argue again after 8 years that small schools in rural areas are good schools and that it stands to reason that the formation of a mixed classroom is a long-standing standard that has been established in other countries.
Curious? I would be happy if you would like to know more about this book and read it so that you can then decide whether to post a review on the book. Do you have any questions about the book?
