Xbox gets FidelityFX Ultra HD upgrade technology from AMD • Eurogamer.de

FSR 2.0 is available to all developers on Xbox. In this way, better frame rates can be achieved.

AMD has announced that FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) upgrade technology will be coming to Xbox.

in one Blog post The manufacturer has stated that the latest version of its refresh rate optimization technology – ie FSR 2.0 – will be available for use by all Xbox game developers. There is a small problem, because AMD “cannot say today when Xbox games can be expected with FSR 2.0”.

What exactly is FSR?

You can consider FidelityFX Super Resolution similar to Nvidia’s DLSS technology. This artificial intelligence is used to improve the accuracy of computers’ addresses. Higher graphics settings and better frame rates are then possible. However, FSR does not use machine learning in its upgrade algorithm.

AMD’s DLSS competitor launched in June 2021 and is currently used by more than 90 game publishers. To date, 61 games support this technology – another 20 games that support FSR are still in development.

“FSR 2.0 is the next level of temporary upgrade technology with incredible image quality,” AMD said. It was designed from the ground up by AMD to deliver image quality similar to or better than the original and help boost frames in supported games.

Incidentally, the PC version of Deathloop is said to be the first game that can use FSR 2.0 for itself. The new technology will also be used in the upcoming title Forspoken.
