In one fell swoop, the potential reach of Xbox Cloud Gaming has expanded dramatically: starting in July, Game Pass subscribers will be able to play on Amazon Fire TV.
Current models of the Fire TV Stick 4k and Fire TV Stick 4k Max are supported, and you also need a gaming controller with Bluetooth support and of course the Xbox app, which you can use to access the Game Pass cloud gaming library.
Beside Microsoft Beside Amazon Celebrating renewed collaboration. This is not the first time that the two companies, which are fierce competitors in the cloud space, have collaborated on a consumer offering. Cortana and Alexa were supposed to be the dream duo among digital assistants, and the Amazon App Store was supposed to improve Windows 11's compatibility with Android. Both projects failed miserably, so we can hope that the collaboration will work out better this time and, above all, that it will last longer.
This is a bit surprising, because Amazon has its own cloud gaming offering with Luna and is now bringing home tough competition with Xbox Cloud Gaming. The advantages and opportunities are clear for Microsoft, but there are also opportunities for Amazon to enhance the Fire TV platform through this collaboration and sell additional devices. Did Panos Panay, who defected from Microsoft to join Amazon, have a hand in this as the shipping giant's new head of hardware?
