The following day, she joined the royal family to celebrate King Charles' birthday on the balcony of Buckingham Palace at Trooping the Colour.

After making two high-profile public appearances this year, the princess will now return to life away from the spotlight while she continues treatment.

The Welsh couple are set to spend the warm summer at their country home, Anmer Hall, on the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk, England.
