Nearly a million people watched Primeira Liga soccer matches in stadiums – a million fewer than in the 2019/2020 season, according to reports on Friday. Newspaper. Benfica suffered a drop of more than 50%. It is followed by the Futebol Clube do Porto with a drop of 32.2% and Sporting with a 28.2% – that is, the Big Three lost 43.3% of attendance. In all, there were about 411,000 fewer people compared to the 2019/2020 season, which was halted in the middle due to the Covid-19 epidemic.
However, they were not the ones who scored the most cuts: Boavista lost 76.1% of spectators in the stadiums, which are now less than 80 thousand. It’s the biggest drop in the Primeira Liga. Next comes Marítimo with 68.1% fewer spectators; Then Belenenses SAD by 68% lower. Of the 15 clubs already in the Primeira Liga in 2019/2020, Paços de Ferreira had the lowest reduction: 15.1%.
