Warhammer 40K Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters launches May 5th on Steam. In this turn-based role-playing game, the mysterious order of the Gray Knights faces the forces of chaos. The previous reviews on Steam are pretty harsh on the title. On the other hand, the press seems more tolerant.
With Warhammer 40K Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters, the Warhammer 40K series received a new role-playing game. A sequel to the 24-year-old’s original, Complex Games has just launched on Steam and already got quite a few reviews. While the press received the title fairly favorably, there are a few thumbs-ups for gamers on Steam.
Players criticize errors and performance
There are currently 13 journalism reviews available via Metacritic. This is very positive: the best rating comes from PC Gamer with a score of 87 out of 100, and the worst rating is 70. Most journalists’ ratings are 80 points. Praised for their blend of tactics, tradition, and determination, Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters captures the dark spirit of the Games Workshop world. The game is a “great experience of the turn-based strategy genre” and will be worthwhile for fans of Warhammer and XCOM.

Things are a little different on Steam. Of the current 454 user reviews, only 74 percent are positive. Many players are primarily concerned with bugs and performance. Users report sudden framerate drops and crashes. Especially when it’s the enemy’s turn and in cut scenes, the frame rate will drop from 60 to 10.
On the other hand, the feel of Warhammer 40K that originates in the game and the story is praised. The fights are also tough and reminiscent of XCOM. The individual missions are diverse and complex. The customization options in the game are also favorably marked.
