Those affected by the bright lights will have their own special day and time to shop starting Saturday 22nd July.
Wal-Mart announced that most of its stores will offer “sensory-friendly shopping hours” every Saturday from 8 am to 10 am through August.
in Back-to-school press release, the retailer said it will dim its lights to better serve shoppers sensitive to senses. During the two-hour period, most stores turn off their radios and show still pictures on their TVs.
The accommodations aim to improve the shopping experience for people with autism, and discovery for those with sensory processing and other sensory differences, the statement said.
The company stated “Every day we strive to create a culture where everyone feels they belong”. “This year, Wal-Mart is taking steps toward creating a quieter, more enjoyable shopping environment for customers with sensory impairments.”

The statement did not say whether accommodations will continue for these communities after August.
USA TODAY has reached out to Walmart for comment.
Other companies offer accommodations for these groups incl AMC Theatreswhich regularly presents sensory-friendly shows, and Chuck E. Cheese, who holds “Sensual Sensual Sundays With early openings, a quieter environment and dim lighting.
