With problems in the defensive part – several injured athletes – the player seized the opportunity and cemented himself in the Santos sector of late: Wagner Leonardo. After returning from loan to NĂ¡utico, the defender played only one match, the derby against Corinthians, at Vila Belmiro, a match that ended 0-0 in Brazil’s favour.
Prior to returning to the club, Wagner was on a big stage for the Pernambuco team. The defender won the state title, scored in the first leg of the final, and led the defensive part of the team until then the leader of the second division, when Bixe demanded his return. With Balha on the field, Tempo was unbeaten in the tournament, racking up eight wins and two draws in ten rounds.
After his departure, there were seven defeats, five draws and only three wins in 15 contested rounds, and he slipped from the lead to eighth. Without Wagner Leonardo, the team led by Marcelo Chamosca conceded 22 goals. Before returning to Santos, the team struggled only four times out of ten matches.
With 14 appearances for Pixie this season, the defender has managed to establish himself in Santos’ defense with a fine performance after returning from loan. Assuming the 14th jersey, which belongs to Louan Perez, started in the last eight encounters, won a space with Fernando Diniz and maintained his position after the arrival of Fabio Carrell.
In the final round of Brazil, the coach came up with his ideas and joined Wagner Leonardo, Danilo Bosa and newcomer Emiliano Velasquez. The trio did well against Ciara and the tendency is for the coach to keep betting on three defenders.
