Volleyball: Uberlândia selects ‘new home’ for matches as host team in Superliga

Having acquired the Sabiazinho lounge last season, Azulim Gabaretto Uberlandia will have to play in another city in the 2021/2022 Super League. The Triângulo team will perform their duties at home in Monte Carmelo, in the Vila Nova gymnasium, with a capacity of 900 people. The trend is for games to have fans with a limited audience capacity.

Monte Carmelo is located 109 km from Uberlândia, which forced the team to travel by bus while playing their home matches.

This is because the first two panel options are not available. In addition to Sabiazinho, the gym at the Uberlândia Tênis Clube (UTC) has been booked as Covid-19 vaccination centres. The gym in which the team is currently training does not have the infrastructure to host Superliga matches.

In the first stage, there will be 11 home matches, a number that could be increased if they qualify for the play-off matches. The home debut should be on October 30, against Vedacit Guarulhos (SP). Last season, in his Superliga debut, Uberlândia achieved the historic classification for the second stage of the tournament.

Monte Carmelo will also have a branch of the Academia do Vôlei, responsible for the team. The project aims to serve about 300 people, including young and old, who will have the right to train and play sports.
