Video showed flames shooting from underneath a Frontier plane that made an emergency landing in Las Vegas after reports of smoke in the cockpit on Saturday, officials said.
Frontier said in a statement that Flight 1326 was en route from San Diego to Las Vegas when the pilots “detected smoke and declared an emergency.”
There were reports of smoke in the cockpit before the Airbus 321 was able to make an emergency landing at Harry Reid International Airport, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
The airport was the intended destination of the flight.
The flight “had a hard landing” and the Clark County Fire Department responded immediately, said Amanda Mazzagatti, airport program manager at Harry Reid Airport.
The plane landed safely and all passengers and crew members on board were evacuated using the stairs. They were then transported by buses to the station.
No injuries were reported, according to the airline and airport.
The accident occurred around 4:20 pm local time. The ground stop was in effect at the airport until 7 p.m. Saturday, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
A video clip of the incident was posted on social media It shows the plane rolling down the runway and flames and smoke appear to be rising from underneath the plane near its wheels. Behind him is a trail of thick smoke.
The video showed fire engines approaching the plane as soon as it stopped and spraying it to extinguish the fire.
The cause of the accident is currently being investigated. The FAA is investigating.
