CoinPower’s small battery technology patent is the subject of infringement proceedings in the United States against a Chinese competitor. The dispute is not over yet.
In a patent dispute between Varta AG and Chinese competitor EVE Energy Co. Ltd. The US Patent Office had made an important decision. On August 8, the patent office denied EVE Energy’s application to invalidate all patent claims for Varta’s CoinPower batteries (U.S. Patent 9,496.581). The group, which is based in Ellwangen and has a branch in Nördlingen, announced this on Tuesday.
This patent has also been attacked by another competitor, with the result that all claims remain valid in their original or slightly modified form. The 581 patent covers aspects of CoinPower’s successful micro-battery technology. The outcome of the USPTO decision significantly boosted the patent and Varta’s prospect of winning the lawsuit.
