Also available on the Japanese App Store.

Get the spatial content app “What if…? An Immersive Story” exclusively for Apple Vision Pro, produced by Marvel and ILM Immersive (Industrial Light & Magic Immersive) from the Japanese App Store and use it with Apple Vision Pro. I would like to report my impressions after trying it.

Disney+'s popular animation “What If…?” is available on Apple Vision Pro. “What If…? Immersive Story,” an app that lets you immerse yourself in the world of “What If…? Immersive Story,” has been released on the Japanese App Store.

■ The Marvel Universe is spread over 360 degrees and in all celestial spheres.

“What If…? An Immersive Story” (hereinafter referred to as “What If”) is the animated series “What If… An Immersive Story” currently distributed on the Disney+ video service. This is a special app content that allows you to experience the worldview of “.'' with Apple Vision Pro.

The app, which was first released in North America, has been available on the Japanese App Store since late August. Apple Vision Pro users can enjoy it for free for a limited time.

I haven't watched the Disney+ anime, which was distributed until season 2, but the app tells an original story, so even newbies can participate.

■Lots of interactive game elements

In the What If app, players move forward as they complete missions based on a one-hour scenario that unfolds in the Marvel Universe. There are also interactive gameplay elements. For example, players can use Apple Vision Pro hand gestures to shoot bullets, shield themselves with a shield, and grab items.

The difficulty level of the game parts is not high, and there are few intense movements, so even those who are not good at immersive style games will be able to reach the end of the story. All you have to do is point with both hands. You can play from beginning to end while sitting.

It may seem like it takes about an hour to complete a game, but by double-clicking the Digital Crown on Apple Vision Pro, you can switch to scrolling view and interrupt gameplay at any time.

I also tried it with Apple Vision Pro. I was able to complete the gameplay portion while enjoying the roughly 1 hour long story.

I played for about an hour and a half, eating snacks along the way. Most of the cutscenes will be in full immersive mode while you play, so you'll need to be able to reach out to those around you before you play.

■ Watch the immersive 360-degree video

After my experience, the only thing I had difficulty with What If was the language. Despite being successfully released on the Japanese App Store, the dialogue and subtitles for the main story are only available in English.

The story isn't that complicated, and the quests in the game should be able to tell you what to do without the language barrier holding you back. However, I'd like to understand the content a little deeper, so I plan to continue playing the game a few more times.

The What if app spreads beautiful graphics around the user's field of view in 360 degrees, so it is also a great opportunity to experience spherical content with Apple Vision Pro. In the future, if an app exclusive to Apple Vision Pro is released that is related to popular Japanese anime and game content, it is likely to become even more exciting.
