Travel planning in seconds – Google details chatbot Gemini: Daily Ticket

Google's AI-powered Gemini chatbot can now be linked to other Google apps and services like Maps, YouTube, Google Drive or Gmail. For example, a chatbot should offer better support when planning trips. (Blog by Google)

Upon user prompting, the AI model now searches publicly available information as well as specific details such as flight times and hotel reservations to create a customized multi-day vacation itinerary “in seconds.”

At a press conference, Google Vice President and Gemini CEO Sisi Hsiao said manually planning the trip “could take hours, days, or even weeks.” But with the help of Gemini, the process can happen almost instantly. It will be “dynamic,” meaning it can be modified and customized with prompts and other requests thanks to Gemini's new travel planning interface.

According to the company, an example could be: “My family and I are going to Miami for Labor Day. My son loves art and my husband really wants fresh seafood. Can you get my flight and hotel information from Gmail and send me help? Planning a weekend getaway?”

Gemini then creates an itinerary based on the flight and hotel details in the user's email. The model also accesses Google Maps to find nearby restaurants and cultural destinations and filters selections based on specific preferences, such as: b. Dietary restrictions or things to avoid. Google says new flight planning features will be available for Gemini Advanced in the coming months.

Initially, all users in the United States and soon in other countries will be shown overviews of search results generated by artificial intelligence. It's still unclear how much this will impact the business model of websites that rely on users finding them through Google.
