‘This Is Us’ Synopsis: Season 6, Episode 13 – Kate’s Second Wedding

Who, if any, did Kevin? He sleeps with her and when does he sleep with her?

This is the question that arises during Tuesday this is usand you’ll pardon me if I focus on it a little harder than Madison and Beth, but the rest of the episode is so sad that I’m grateful for the distraction that has to do with both how junk and his heart—not necessarily in that request.

See, Rebecca’s Alzheimer’s disease escalates toward its inevitable, extremely painful end so quickly that it’s giving her loved ones, in Miguel’s words, a “blow.” Here’s a terrible realization while watching the episode: We still have five years to go before we get there Forward that happens in Rebecca’s last days. This is too much heartache to put up with before the end.

Poetry today gone tomorrow | In flashbacks when Kate, Kevin and Randall were just six, Rebecca makes the impromptu decision to cut her hair like Princess Diana’s, in an effort to change the routine she feels is dragging her down. The kids are less excited about their mother’s new job, and Jack’s initial reaction isn’t very supportive either. But after Rebecca explains why she feels the need to break out of the monotony of everyday life—and after Jack points out that the family routine provides him comfort he never had as a child living with fickle parents—he decides to make a hasty beauty choice, too: shaving his beard. in Sharpe. Then he gets a babysitter, they go out on a rare date Wednesday to evening, and Rebecca happens to sit at the restaurant piano and sing a song.

When your wedding day…Love will find you | Then we move on to Kate’s wedding day, which we saw a cut of in another flash of the show. Rebecca is confused when the hairdresser starts styling her hair, but Miguel gently reminds his wife of where she is and what’s going on. When Randall and Kevin check in and remind her that she’s going to perform a song during the reception, Rebecca looks just fine… until she says, “I can’t wait for your dad to get here.”

Miguel takes her a step. Randall is very upset. He didn’t see her at this level of deterioration. Oh, and that’s unrelated but discussed in this scene: He’s also the new senator now, having won his election.

In Kate’s room, after Beth and Madison leave to go dress the twins, Philip tells his bride they look amazing…and worried. She admits that she is concerned about Rebecca’s performance. “This is a tune she’s played on us since we were kids, and if something goes wrong, she’ll be absolutely devastated,” says Kate.

Soon, the family got together for a very early photoshoot – scheduled for the top of the day so Rebecca has plenty of time to rest before the celebration begins. Everyone jokes until Rebecca calls Kevin Jack and gets upset when Randall corrects her. As Kev moves in to his mother’s side, standing up primarily for his father, a shadow is cast on the proceedings. When The Big 3 and Philip later came out, Kevin tells Randall that Rebecca is at the stage now where the doctor suggests going ahead with whatever she says and distracting her when needed. Change is real for everyone.

Miguel shows fatigue | During the downtime leading up to the main event, Rebecca looks a lot more straightforward but then thinks Kevin is Jack – props to the show finding a way to give Milo Ventimiglia more to do – and how sad about it, but he goes along with it. with her. Meanwhile, Miguel Randal pulls away for a wine tasting. It seems like odd timing at first, but it’s clear Miguel just needs a break from the constant care and anxiety involved in seeing Rebecca’s fading vision. Randall didn’t realize it at first, and called Miguel when he noticed his stepfather’s hand trembling with a jerk.

In the end, Miguel explodes. “I only needed a minute to feel like a human,” he says, adding that tremor is a side effect of some of his medications. He also states that “all this” – aka Rebecca’s disease – moves too fast, and things are only going to get worse. Poor Miguel!

Rebecca pulls through | Then it’s party time. Everything is going well, reception clicks well with Kevin princess bride Talk (which is idle, though it makes Sophie laugh) and toast Randall about how to speed up time as you get older. Randall introduces his mother and asks her to come to the stage, and it seems that things will go badly; Rebecca doesn’t seem to know what’s going on. But then, as Philip had expected, she locked her key and began to play, music pouring from her. Everyone is crying. (Side note: Is this the song Rebecca sang to the kids when they were little? It’s so depressing!) When it’s finished, everyone cheers.

connecting line | Which brings us to “Who’s the lady in Kevin’s hotel room?” The mystery, which a group of us have been playing since our first wedding fast, but Madison and Beth only get into it when they visit his room to get the twins’ wedding attire. They find a cocktail napkin with what looks like a handwritten poem by the woman and those snowballs in their entry to the true crime side of looking for clues. They find a bra, a roll, and makeup in the bathroom – although Madison quickly points out that it’s hers, because Kevin sometimes borrows her foundation. (Beth’s face upon hearing this revelation is astonishing.)

The ladies spend the rest of the hour trying to guess the lady who spent the previous night in Kevin’s room. Was she a wedding singer (played by her scandalKatie Louise), who was Kevin talking to at rehearsal? Was Cassidy, his additional official? Or is it Sophie, his ex-wife who is still married to the man she was with at Kate and Philip’s engagement dinner?

Beth and Madison go back and forth about the prime suspect, never quite landing on anything certain. And then, when Randall asked his brother directly what happened the night before the wedding, Kevin said it was a long story. “Is it a good story?” Randall asks. Then we see flashes of Kevin walking with Sophie, talking to the wedding singer, and escorting Cassidy to his room. “I don’t know yet,” says how wearily.
