This is how Spider-Man and Co. works. Smoothly with a variable refresh rate

The first comprehensive comparison video regarding the VRR function is available. The two branches of “Spider-Man”, “Ratchet & Clank, Rift Apart” and “Astros Playroom” and a few third-party games were compared.

As of this week, PlayStation 5 finally supports VRR. Technology that provides a variable refresh rate for HDMI 2.1 devices. This way annoying jerks, screen tearing, etc. can be prevented.

How exactly does the long-awaited feature affect Games with proper support Effects, a detailed comparison video is shown. Gaming YouTuber ElAnalistaDeBits has taken the trouble to review Spider-Man, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart and Astros Playroom. Supported third-party games such as “Devil May Cry V: Special Edition”, “Resident Evil Village”, “Destiny 2” and “DIRT 5” also have their place.

FPS limit removed and input lag reduced

With “Spider-Man Remastered” and “Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart”, the removed FPS limit results in smoother playback. This provides about 30 frames per second. Even more is possible with Devil May Cry V: it can go up to 120 frames per second. If we refer to “Astros Playroom” and “DIRT 5”, the restriction will not be removed.

As the video progresses, it’s Resident Evil Village’s turn. It turns out quickly: thanks to VRR, the input delay is clearly reduced. The “Elden Ring” is also being tested, but it does not have VRR support. For best results, you need to disable V-Sync.
