This 4K gaming monitor features a 1000Hz refresh rate (yes, 1000Hz)

If you thought your 360Hz gaming monitor was too fast and responsive, get ready to want another upgrade, like a 1000Hz refresh rate Gaming screen This has already been proven. Not only that, but there's no need to put up with a lower resolution on this new monitor either, as the TCL CSOT 1000Hz Gaming Monitor has a full 4K resolution.

TCL CSOT claims the new monitor offers “a glimpse into the future of eSports,” and it bucks the trend of previous high-refresh monitor releases, where the best gaming monitors with the fastest refresh rates typically come with a 1920 x 1080 resolution initially, with higher resolutions coming in at later. Until now, you couldn't buy a 4K monitor with a 360Hz refresh rate. You'll need some massive gaming hardware to output 1,000fps at 4K, of course – even the RTX 4090 won't be able to do that natively.

The new TCL CSOT 1000Hz display was spotted at SID Display Week 2024 by Blur Busters, which to publish On X (formerly Twitter) about it. Blur Busters takes the TestUFO test, which we use in our monitor reviews to test performance, because it's really good at bringing out shadows and blur instantly at high frame rates. Blur Busters also confirmed in their photo magazine that the 1000Hz display uses a standard LCD panel.

However, even if you can find an undemanding game that's sized good enough to run your GPU at 1,000 FPS, the monitor will have to be incredibly responsive if it's going to display 1,000 Hz moving images with minimal jitter. It doesn't seem that long ago that the standard monitor refresh rate was 60fps, but in just a few years, we've gone through 144Hz, 240Hz, 360Hz, and 480Hz, with 1000Hz already on the horizon.

Unless you're a competitive shooter, you don't have to worry about tracking, especially since in our experience, you get diminishing returns with higher refresh rates. I'm still happy with my 4K 144Hz gaming monitor, and I don't have any plans to upgrade soon.
