These are the new gaming smartphones

With the ROG Phone 7 and ROG Phone 7 Ultimate, ASUS will soon introduce two new versions of its series of extreme gaming smartphones. We already have the first official marketing photos that show, among other things, the ventilation flap on the back.

ASUS ROG Phone 7 and its Ultimate variant will be officially presented tomorrow, April 13, 2023, and are set to set new standards in mobile gaming. Both variants are based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, which is currently the most powerful octa-core SoC for Android smartphones.

As far as we know, both models will feature a 6.8-inch AMOLED display with a maximum refresh rate of 165Hz. In addition, ASUS once again offers the devices huge batteries, each with a capacity of 6000mAh. The well-known combination of the main camera with a 50MP sensor without optical image stabilization, a 13MP camera for ultra-wide angle, and a 5MP sensor for macro shots should be on the back.

ASUS ROG Phone 7

Technically, it is likely that the ASUS ROG Phone 7 and ROG Phone 7 Ultimate will differ mainly in terms of memory equipment, but we have no information about it yet. In addition, there are design and feature differences already known from the previous model series.

ASUS ROG Phone 7 Ultimate

Only the ROG Phoen 7 Ultimate will come with the so-called AeroActive Portal. This is a small flap on the back of the smartphone, through which the pluggable fan module offered by ASUS should be better able to allow airflow over the CPU. Another difference is that only the Ultimate version has a second screen built into the back, on which ASUS displays animations, among other things.

On the other hand, the “regular” version of the ROG Phone 7 has a few LEDs on the back that can light up a dot pattern in the shape of the ROG logo in different colors. Pricing and availability of the new ASUS gaming smartphones are not available yet.
