Madness stone
The Stone of Madness is a real-time strategy stealth game set in an 18th century Spanish monastery. The story takes place in an ancient Jesuit monastery located in the Pyrenees, which is used as a mental hospital and prison for the Inquisition. Here, five prisoners, suffering from cruel punishment, madness and despair, combine their skills and wisdom to confront their horrors. Solve the mysteries of the monastery and find your way to escape without losing your mind.
■ Escape from the monastery
Escaping from the monastery, which has a strict security system, is very difficult. However, Agnes, Leonora, Eduardo, Amelia and Alfredo face the difficulties with resolute determination. Switch between five characters, each with unique (upgradeable) skills to cast spells, assassinate targets, distract enemies, repel evil spirits, and more.
Explore the surroundings and combine the abilities of five people to find clues and tools scattered throughout the monastery. But don't let your guard down – the guards won't forgive you if you're caught where you shouldn't be.
■ Curb your madness
In order to explore the monastery effectively, attention must be paid to the characters' mental state.
Each playable character has a carefully designed set of traumas and phobias. When these traits are evoked, the mind declines and traumatic events occur, with negative effects such as delusions, cognitive impairment, and violent outbursts. The result is a fundamental change in the way the character is played.
■ Find hidden secrets
There are two satisfying campaigns to choose from in the game. Each one has its own story, objectives, special characters and many surprises.
In the world of The Stone of Madness, time is constantly flowing. Actions always have consequences, so players must make decisions keeping in mind the ever-changing time.
During the day, when the guard is easily distracted, this is a great opportunity to carry out stealth, exploration, and material gathering. However, as the sun sets, supernatural beings hiding in the monastery appear and threaten the characters' sanity.
It is wise to set aside the night to plan and manage your escape plan. Players exploring the monastery after curfew will face additional challenges. Security is stronger than it was during the day, and guards deal harshly with prisoners who wander around. But sometimes the benefits are worth the risk.
■ Breathtaking hand-drawn art style
The visuals of The Stone of Madness are carefully hand-drawn and carefully animated frame by frame, heavily influenced by the 18th century painter Francisco de Goya.
Since this work is done from an isometric perspective, this attractive image is fully expressed. Players can enjoy an adventure that is like entering the world of Goya's paintings while observing every detail.
