The organizers are offering a $10,000 bonus, tickets for life

Coleman police are looking to identify those involved in the Saturday night attack at rock festival The South that sent at least one man to the hospital.

Event organizers offer a $10,000 bonus in this case.

Coleman Police directed AL.com to a statement on the department’s Facebook page.

“The Coleman Police Department is aware of the assault that occurred in Rock the South last night,” the statement read. A report is being submitted and an investigation is underway.

“We are counting on the public’s help in identifying those involved,” according to the statement.

Kaci Howard, in a Facebook post Sunday, identified her son as an assault victim at the Rock the South event.

“Please help me find the cowards who did this to my son tonight at Rock the South. There were several adult men (30s and 40s) who jumped on him and beat him unconscious while his girlfriend stood there screaming and crying for help,” Howard said.

They continued to beat him while he was on the ground until security finally got to them and got Reid and Katie out of there and they were taken to an ambulance. He has a broken nose, concussion, stitches, and softball-sized nodules in the back of his head. He never saw it coming. They jumped on him out of nowhere because someone said he had spilled a drink on him. Reed didn’t even have a drink in his hand. Anyone who has met Reed knows his character. Never having met a stranger, he could literally get along with anyone. He’s a good kid and he doesn’t deserve that. Please share with me and help me find the admin.

“One of them had long curly hair, a red white and blue hat, about 6 feet tall and an even larger man in a white shirt. I don’t have much of a description of the rest of these but I know a lot of people have seen so someone knows who these cowards are.”

The fight video was posted to Facebook.

Howard wrote, “Please tell me or the Coleman police if you recognize any of these men.”

Laura Kwik, wife of festival founder Shane Kwik, confirmed to AL.com that a $10,000 reward, plus lifetime tickets to the event, is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the assault.

This year’s event featured 16 acts during the three-night show, including headliners Chris Stapleton, Riley Green and Zac Bryan, with DJ Silver’s tunes between sets.

At the end of the event on Saturday night, Shane Quick announced to the crowd that Rock the South had broken attendance records. “This is the largest rock in the South in history,” said Shane Kwik. “People from 13 countries are here tonight. Every state in the USA is here tonight.”
