The largest animal to ever walk the planet was known as Patagotitan mayurum, which weighed approximately 154,323 pounds, which is roughly the same as 10 African elephants.
This animal was longer than the blue whale, reaching 121 feet in length, but it was lighter in weight and smaller in overall mass, according to the American “space” website. Twisted sieve.
A subgroup of dinosaurs characterized by long necks and tails, Patagotitan mayorum has been found to be a sauropod. This species also had four stocky, column-like legs that entered the ground.
Brontosaurus and Diplodocus are among the famous members of this group.
The largest animals on Earth are usually considered whales, giraffes and elephants but Patagotitan mayorum beats them all to the race.
The mayor of Patagotitan walked into the Patagonia region of what is now southern Argentina. Before the discovery of Patagotitan mayorum, the area was home to the Argentinosaurus dinosaur, which also previously held the record for the largest land animal.
Although the surrounding soil indicates that the animal lived about 100 million years ago, fossils of Patagotitan mayorum were first discovered in 2017.
