In the second phase of the Basketball League, there will be three groups of four teams, which will qualify for the playoff game.
The Portuguese Basketball Federation revealed, on Tuesday, changes to the competitive system for both the Betclic League and the Portuguese Cup, so that there are dates available for all matches.
“The clubs that compete in the Betclic League have been greatly affected by the outbreak of the Coruna virus, which has already forced the postponement of some matches (…) The two European Basketball Cup teams (Benfica and Sporting) have postponed matches. These dates are contrary to the normal course of the national competition ,” the entity explained in a statement, later revealing the changes. “In the second stage of the Betclic League, the clubs will be divided into three groups of four teams, in the order of the first classification, with only six rounds to be held.”
According to the current classification, Group A includes Sporting, Benfica, Porto and Oliverense. In the playoff, the decisions become the best of the three matches.

• At the end of this stage, the top eight teams will play the play-off.
• At the end of this stage, the twelfth place will be relegated.
• At the end of this stage, the tenth and eleventh seed will play the five matches.
The playoff quarter-finals in three matches, with the dates for the fourth and fifth matches set.
• The first home match for the best ranked team.
• The second home match of the lowest ranked team.
• The third home match for the best ranked team.
The Portuguese Cup final will be played with eight teams, on 6, 7 and 8 May, and the date for the quarter-finals will be announced (23 March).
