Old Gaston has always had a horrific story in store, especially when it comes to the evil owner of the Dark Castle. Gaston is sure that things are not going well there and decides to reveal the secret. But Gaston has not been seen since. When you decide to search for the ancient Gaston, you quickly pack your backpack and go into the dark forest to reach the fearsome castle. In the dark forest, a strange feeling creeps over you and you are no longer sure if the horror stories about DAS DUNKLE SCHLOSS may not be true after all.

As with all EXIT games, with EXIT – DAS DUNKLE SCHLOSS you have just a little bit of information. As always, the instructions give an insight into the mechanics of the game, a first introduction to the story and first hints, as well as your backpack and first puzzle. who also wants to solve it immediately.

Then the puzzle begins. You are now trying to open the first chest with the help of clues to get more clues about where Gaston is. This should be possible with the game materials available to you.

If you do, you will receive more clues with which you can solve the following puzzles in order to get more clues. The clues not only introduce you to completely new puzzles, but also reveal more and more details of the story.

You can check if your solution is correct with the help of decryption disk. If the square of the current puzzle and the square in the back match, the solution is correct and other clues will be available.

If you do not get more, there is a possibility to get more information. These are accompanied by the game instructions. For each puzzle there are two clues and if the solution is still a puzzle – there is the third and final solution, the solution itself, which is also included in the instructions for the game.

Exit – The dark castle is completed when you solve the last puzzle.

As with all EXIT games, the materials are produced with great attention to detail. The alien parts and the decoder are made of durable paper that is thin but perfectly serves its purpose. Before starting the game, the decoder must be assembled, although I like it better than previous EXIT games, since it can be seen directly on the back whether the entered solution is correct.

The puzzle pieces are of the usual good Ravensburger quality and work perfectly. There are a total of 4 puzzles with 88 pieces each.

There are still 12 puzzle documents, made of paper, containing the puzzles to be solved.

In addition, there are instructions that explain the mechanics of the game, give an introduction to the game and contain hints and solutions.
