Telemedicine / Technology – Part 2 of the webinar series “KI vadis Augenoptik” › eyebizz

And

Part two of our webinar series KI vadis Ophthalmic Optics Overshadowing the future: Even before Opti’s Munich, Oculus and EYETEC will present new technologies and new possibilities for optometrists and optometrists at a partner webinar on Tuesday, January 10 at 7pm at eyebizz. Under “Telemedicine/Technology” we discuss the topic from a completely different angle.

Certainly telemedicine and the often associated AI offer at least one additional underpinning – However, the important question seems to be to what extent is cooperation with an ophthalmologist appropriate or even necessary? Despite all the legal (show) battles, some of which have been fought on the big stage, ophthalmologists, optometrists and optometrists are looking for opportunities to communicate more closely for the benefit of their clients and their patients. The two speakers for the evening delve into this topic in a meaningful way: Kai Mothes works in Product Management at OCULUS in the Keratograph & PARK 1 division and will answer a similarly important question and in this very relevant context from the point of view of the device manufacturer OCULUS in his presentation: Is universal medical care still guaranteed in all regions of Germany today?

Remo Jahnke, product specialist at EYETEC GmbH, puts it in a practical way: Legally, everything will be regulated in the future. In the past, when an ophthalmologist’s prescription was sacred, it was not allowed to be examined. Today, the same ophthalmologist writes on the prescription that the values should be checked again by an ophthalmologist.

Is this also the case with retinal examinations and analyzes? The prerequisites are created: on the one hand, by technology, which Mothes and Jahnke will also introduce. And on the other hand through the specialized knowledge of optometrists and optometrists, which Stefan Lahm will look at. The President of the Association for the Quality of Optometric Services Quality will enhance the round of talks and discussions and talk about practical experience.

It will be interesting to see how Lam evaluates speaker technology from Oculus and EYETEC and which areas of application he envisions for it. How does he use the possibilities himself, and when does he trust technology and maybe even telemedicine and artificial intelligence? And when does he prefer to rely on his experience and what he has learned and gained over many years?

Technology is advancing and new optical services are pushing ahead – but optometrists and optometrists can and want to keep up, should they ever? We’ll know more on Tuesday evening. Free registration for the eyebizz event portal is available until shortly before the start of the live webinar.
