Kontron contributes to the progressive digitalization of the energy sector with its complete networks via Ethernet, LTE, WiFi, EEBUS, MODBUS/TCP, OCPP and ISO15118. The efficient use of the fluctuating energy production from wind power and photovoltaics requires smart and efficient networks for buildings, electric vehicles and the power grid. “With our charging system software, we provide an intelligent answer to the demands of the energy and transport transition, which are strongly influenced by digitalization and networking,” says Niederhauser.

Kontron systems communicate seamlessly with the energy management system, which can be connected to photovoltaic systems, heat pumps or battery storage systems. This makes it possible, for example, for an electric vehicle to receive an incentive schedule from the wallbox in order to create a dynamic charging plan based on that.
In addition, grid-friendly charging is also supported, which allows adaptation to the use of the power grid, as well as flexible charging tariffs. Communication with the vehicle is via the ISO 15118 standard, which allows the electric vehicle and the charging station to recognize each other and exchange information. This technology enables authorization via Plug'n'Charge at public charging stations.
