Berlin Culture Senator Joe Chialo wants to better explore the opportunities and limits of using artificial intelligence (AI) in culture. “Artificial intelligence has not played any role in Berlin's cultural policy so far. We are planning to hold an artificial intelligence conference with Re:Publica next year,” the CDU politician told the German News Agency (DPA) in Berlin. re:publica is a festival for the digital community and bills itself as the largest conference of its kind in Europe.

Chialo sees a need to work on culture. “Because it is important for us to not only ask pressing questions, but also answer them. What does AI mean? What role does it play for culture? In terms of legal, economic, and ethical aspects as well. And what does it mean for the future perspective?” He said. “We want to be able to think about this big issue and maybe play a leading role.”
