Taylor Swift fans are standing with Caitlin Clark after Angel Reese interviewed Travis Kelce's ex-girlfriend

Caitlin Clark may have just won over more Taylor Swift fans than Kamala Harris. Clark didn't have to ask for any of it.

The viral resurfacing of a social media post Clark made when she was in college sent a horde of aggressive new fans her way. In fact, it's made her the newest beloved ally of Swift's army.

Clark originally posted this post right after Swift announced her relationship with Kansas City Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce in September 2023. Clark welcomed Swift to the Chiefs fan family in the post.

“Welcome Taylor Swift to the good side,” Clark wrote in a Sept. 24, 2023, message. Share on X With the hashtag “Kingdom of Bosses.”

In the past 24 hours, several Taylor Swift fan pages across social media have retweeted Clarke following a controversial podcast episode hosted by Clarke's arch rival, Angel Reyes.

Reese hosted a woman named Kayla Nicole, a promotional model, media personality, on-air host, and entertainment journalist who is popular on Instagram and has over 797,000 followers. Her follower count has been growing rapidly since the episode was posted on Thursday, after Nicole went into personal detail about her past romance with Kelsey and its heavy consequences.

“We've seen each other in public before, but — I think we're aware of the nature of his new situation, where there's no real room for us to communicate or acknowledge each other publicly without getting into it. Crazy thing,” Nicole said of Kelsey and his new relationship with Swift. .

Nicole also claimed that she received hate for the relationship since Kelsey started dating Swift instead of her.

“I would be lying if I said this level of online hate and chaos doesn't affect me,” Nicole said. “It is, to this day. You can go to my last post, and you'll find people arguing with each other about why I'm worthless, will never be a talented person and don't have a career.”

The comments sparked widespread controversy on social media, as some defended Nicole and sympathized with her because of the alleged hatred she received. However, others, many who publicly identify as Swift's fans, criticized Nicole and Reese for a variety of reasons.

Many of those Swift fans have now declared themselves Clark fans in response to Reese's interview. Clark and Reese have one of the strongest rivalries in women's sports right now, with their fan bases having been adamantly against each other for over a year. Now Swift's army joins one side.

Clark and Reese have been linked to each other since they first met in the 2023 NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament. Reese famously mocked Clark at the end of that game when Clark's LSU Tigers defeated Clark's Iowa Hawkeyes for the title, pointing her finger in a sarcastic manner to remind her who would get On the ring.

This angered Clark's massive fan base, including Bartstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy, who called Reese a “piece of s—” in a viral X-post following Reese's gesture in the championship match.

They took their rivalry to the pros this year, where they were seen in four heated matchups between Clark's Indiana Fever and Reese's Chicago Sky. The four matches featured a series of controversial flagrant fouls against Clarke by Rees and other Sky players. Reese hit Clark in the head with her arm while trying to block a shot in their first WNBA meeting on June 1. One of Reese's colleagues, Diamond DeShields, posted screenshots of the hate comments she received after she knocked Clark down in their last encounter. Season on August 30th.

Clark and Reese never admitted there was a “disagreement” between them. They have only made respectful comments about each other in interviews and press conferences. Reese said Clark's fans sent her death threats and made explicit AI photos of her and sent them to her family.

“I think the fans, her fans, Iowa fans, and now Indiana fans, are just really fair, they ride for it, and I respect that, respectfully. But sometimes it's very disrespectful. I think there's a lot of The first is from her podcast on September 5: “Racism When It Comes Down to It.”

Reese's latest episode generated more controversy, antagonizing Swift's fans. Criticism directed at Reece for hosting Kelce's ex sparked a response from the Sky rookie on Friday afternoon.

“Hatred pays off, too,” Reese wrote in an essay. Share on X With toenail polish emojis. The episode attracted a lot of attention in the final day, which Reese will benefit from as host of the podcast.

Nicole isn't the first victim of hate comments from Swift's fans, either. Swift fans famously attacked another woman who was known to be in a relationship with a Chiefs star. Brittany Mahomes, wife of quarterback Patrick Mahomes, was the subject of backlash for liking a post from Donald Trump's Instagram account on August 13.

The post outlined the former president's policy agenda for 2024. Swift's fans were aware of Mahomes' friendship with Swift when they attended Chiefs games to watch Patrick Mahomes and Kelce play.

Many of Swift's fans recirculated screenshots of Mahomes liking the post, making her the target of online attacks. Brittany, a pregnant mother of two, has had to address the backlash several times through Instagram posts. It thrust her and her husband into the national political conversation amid a turbulent election cycle, as Swift has been a staunch Democratic supporter.

After Swift endorsed Harris on September 10, Trump said he liked Brittany Mahomes more than Swift in a Fox News interview on September 11.

Patrick publicly praised his wife after Trump's comments the same day but refused to endorse a political candidate.

Swift's initial endorsement of Harris also sparked a response from Clarke, who liked Swift's Instagram post announcing the statement of endorsement.

When asked why Clark liked the post, the basketball star did not endorse Harris but said she wanted to use her platform to encourage Americans to vote, echoing Patrick Mahomes' messages. Reece also did not endorse Harris, but he did praise Michelle Obama for her DNC speech on August 20 in a post on X.
