On September 22, World Hobbit Day, the Special Section and Wētā Workshop are hosting a special livestream event: “Tales of the Shire: A Lord of the Rings Game Showcase.” From 7:30 p.m., you can join us live on YouTube, Twitch, X, and TikTok. Here are the first glimpses of the cozy game, which is set to debut in early 2025.
Developed by Weta Workshop Game Studio, a wholly owned subsidiary of Weta Workshop, the game takes you directly into the idyllic world of The Hobbit. The “Tales of the Shire: A The Lord of the Rings Game” spin-off event will be streamed on September 22 from 7:30 p.m. here:
What is the theme of “Tales of the Shire”?
You live the life of a hobbit in Vasserau, a small village full of magic and discovery. You can relax in the meadows, shop in the small village shops, or enjoy a delicious second breakfast. But there’s more to do than just enjoy village life. You play a central role in strengthening the community in Vasserau and planning the largest village festival the county has ever seen.
In “Tales of the Shire” you can design your own hobbit according to your ideas with many customization options. You can customize your hobbit cave with different furniture and decorations.
You can do this as a hobbit.
There are many activities awaiting you in the district: whether cooking, fishing, gathering or gardening, everything is possible here. You can catch trout in the sparkling Wasserauer See or collect mushrooms in the forest, which you can later use to make a delicious pie. After a hearty lunch, you have the opportunity to take a walk through the district and make friends with the people of Wasserau by helping them in the garden or sharing a meal together. The changing weather influences daily activities and brings seasonal surprises.

Tales of the Shire: A Lord of the Rings™ is scheduled to release in early 2025 for Nintendo Switch™, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (via Steam).
