Streamer star xQc is leaving Luminosity Gaming

Luminosity Gaming has announced that Twitch streamer xQc is leaving the organization. He worked as a content creator at Luminosity Gaming for two years.

French-Canadian internet star Félix “xQc” Lengyel is one of the most popular streamers on Twitch and currently has around 11.5 million followers. He’s leaving Luminosity Gaming for two years of collaboration but will continue to stream on his own Twitch channel.

xQc career and controversies

xQc used to be a fixture in the professional Overwatch scene, including playing for Dallas Fuel. During his time there, he generated some controversy. He made homophobic comments about Houston Outlaws player Austin “Muma” Wilmott on the broadcast. XQc was suspended and had to pay a $2,000 fine. Soon after, he caused another scandal when he posted an emoji on Twitch Chat that appeared to be a racial slur towards an Overwatch League lead.

He then joined the Sentinels while also starting to stream on Twitch. He left xQc Sentinels in 2020 and shortly thereafter joined Luminosity Gaming, where he has now worked for two years.

xQc’s popularity has grown over the years and its channel has continued to grow. He mainly streams games like Overwatch and Minecraft, but the most watched category is Just Chatting, where he interacts with his fans and shares his opinions. In fact, xQc won Streamy Awards in the Just Chatting category last year.

During his time at American esports organization Luminosity Gaming, xQc has managed to survive and even grow as one of the most watched Twitch streamers. Three years ago, 174 million hours were watched on his channel, and last year it was 224 million hours. He also broke the record on his own channel last year with 330,000 viewers. It was while he was broadcasting the Overwatch 2 closed beta test.

A big loss for the brilliant games

xQc has contributed a significant number of broadcast hours to Luminosity Gaming, making him one of the most valuable talents in the organization. His influence has propelled the team to the top of Twitch’s most watched teams almost every month for the past year. As such, the loss of xQc is a huge loss for Luminosity Gaming and his departure is sure to take a toll on the organization.

Who “replaces” it isn’t entirely clear, but Luminosity Gaming will have a hard time finding a suitable replacement. xQc has yet to comment on his departure from Luminosity Gaming or his future plans at any other organization.
