A serial killer from another dimension

While hilarious and relatively innocent sci-fi adventure films such as “ET,” “The Goonies,” “Stand by Me,” and “Ghostbusters” served as a reference for the early seasons, the fourth season of the Netflix original is based on sheer horror from “Carrie” and “The Huntress.” Evil Spirits” and “A Nightmare on Elm Street”. Above all, so-called “body terrors” – in this case gruesome sprains and extremely bloody facial injuries – are frequently depicted in close-ups.

Responsible for this terrifying scene is a new and mysterious villain, which children once again named a creature from the fantasy game Dungeons and Dragons: Vecna. He targets primarily tormented souls and socially isolated youth, whom he stalks, threatens, and eventually kills in the depths of their psyche (Freddy Krueger sends his regards); Hawkins’ teens seem vulnerable to the Upside Down’s brutal serial killer, as they have all experienced grief, loss, disappointment, and pain.
