Until now, gamers have been able to enjoy their hobby on the go using the Steam Deck LCD display. Now software company Valve has followed through and released a new version with Steam Deck OLED. Since yesterday, the console has been available in a 512 GB version or with a storage space of 1 TB.
As the developer wrote, the console should score points with richer colors, deeper blacks, and a larger picture. Motion reproduction is improved and contrasts are increased.
The energy-efficient OLED display and larger battery should enable 30 to 50 percent longer runtime than the previous model. The large fan and new heat are intended to keep the surface cool under pressure.
With the improved WLAN module, Valve advertises download speeds up to three times faster. Low latency enables stable gameplay.
Valve wants to significantly improve the touchscreen. The deck should benefit from high responsiveness and fidelity. Bluetooth antenna enables more stable connections with multiple controllers.
As with its predecessor, it is possible to use a MicoSD card to expand the memory. You can also use this to import games into the library.
There should also be better repair options: by unscrewing the back cover, freely accessible components can be exposed. The company wants to provide spare parts via iFixit. However, Valve recommends that repairs be performed by trained professionals.
