We are watching the graphic version of the movie.
Poe must prove himself as a leader, Finn and Rose face impossible decisions, and Ray ultimately confronts their fate. Are you joining Kylo Ren at the helm of First Division? Can Boo, Rose, and Finn inspire a new generation of rebels to take on the threat? Now that Snoke is dead, is there anything else that could contain Kylo’s anger? Real danger to the galaxy is revealed as the third Star Wars trilogy moves towards its epic conclusion!
The youth comedian of “The Rise of Skywalker” was still pending and is now available in German. Whether that’s still worth it long after the movie’s release is another matter.
Regarding the graphics, Alessandro Ferrari was again allowed to work here, who has already made youth caricatures for all other films. His drawing style is instantly recognizable, with all of the characters looking more elongated and comically like. As before, this is not a bad thing and the racy style has its own charm. At least there are no dark scenes and you can always see every detail as well as the facial features of the characters.
From a plot point of view, there is really not much to report, the film is re-told here, nothing more, nothing less. So if you’ve been hoping for additional explanatory scenes, you’ll be disappointed here again. And the plot itself has been tightened a bit, or in other words, some smaller scenes fall victim to the scissors and are skipped or even excluded entirely. This is also nothing new and it was really the case with other youth comics.
In any case, the comic didn’t hurt, because it actually looks a little faster and isn’t quite as awkward as some of the scenes in the movie. But it could also be because of the long time that has passed since then, and you definitely don’t have the movie in your head anymore. Sometimes, however, one might argue that much was being ignored, for example when Ray defeated Palpatine. Here you can see how lightning recedes and parts of it dissolve. In the next scene, Ray is already on the ground and gone with a patine. If you didn’t know better here, he could have run away.
Fortunately, such fatal errors remain within limits and hardly bother us. In general, you get exactly what he says.
The comic book retelling of the movie works surprisingly well. Sure, this group can’t change the plot and there aren’t any new scenes either. But that’s not necessarily what the youthful comedian expects.
