A tracking shot takes us through dark space, taking us to alien planets, beautiful landscapes, through futuristic cities, only to reveal a man’s sweaty forehead at the end. This, my dear friends, is not a fever dream, but a StarEngine trailer. Technology being developed for Star Citizen and Squadron 42.
Can Star Citizen avoid Starfield’s weaknesses?
The video is over 24 minutes long and shows impressive and fairly realistic visuals. The footage was recorded “in the drive as one continuous recording with no loading screens.” Unfortunately, we don’t know if these are real-time recordings.
The transition between space and planet is smooth and without a loading screen – do I smell a slight tease in Starfield’s direction? -And the level of detail is impressive. Tattooed NPCs, drops of sweat on a man’s forehead, and cool water physics.

But with infinite space and all the space comes great responsibility. If there are too few people and activities in these vast spaces, it can quickly become boring or repetitive.
