Sony used the Xperia 1 VI's external camera to capture a logo that's hard to see with the naked eye. That logo is the PlayStation Shapes logo hidden on the PlayStation 5's DualSense wireless controller.

The DualSense wireless controller has “△○×□” buttons, which are used when playing games or setting up the main unit. This shape is engraved on the DualSense wireless controller as the shape logo. You can feel its rough texture by touching it, but it is difficult to see with the naked eye.

It seems that this hard-to-see logo can be seen more clearly using the Xperia 1 VI's external camera.

Here are the steps: First, launch the camera app on your Xperia 1 VI. Next, select the “Tele Macro” mode from the “Other” tab and point the camera at the hard-to-see logo. Then adjust the sliders for focus and zoom. Finally, tap the shutter button and you’re done.

First, turn on the camera and switch from normal shooting mode to telemacro mode.

Move the slider to focus.

Adjust the zoom amount and release the shutter…

I was able to photograph the shape logo on the DualSense wireless controller, which was difficult to see with the naked eye.

The Secret of the PlayStation 5's #DualSense Wireless Controller

In fact, part of this controller's surface is made up of countless PlayStation Shapes, “△○×□''!

The Xperia 1VI's close-up macro captures details that are difficult to notice with the naked eye.

What kind of shooting mode is telemacro?

What kind of telemacro shooting mode is Sony showing off? I'd like to explain a little bit, including the specs of the Xperia 1 VI.

The Xperia 1 VI's external camera features an ultra-wide angle (16mm/12MP/F2.2), wide angle (24mm/48MP/F1.9), and telephoto (85-170mm/12MP/F2) that supports .3-3.5 optical zoom.

Digital zoom crops out part of the image without the control of the optical system, creating an image that looks like it was taken with a telephoto camera. Optical zoom, on the other hand, allows you to greatly magnify distant subjects and capture high-resolution images without worrying about image quality degradation.

Sony has made this optical zoom one of the weapons of the Xperia 1 VI, allowing you to capture clear images of distant landscapes and objects.

Telemacro refers to macro photography that takes advantage of a telephoto camera capable of optical zoom. Since you can take clear photos from several tens of centimeters away from the subject, it is difficult to see shadows of people or hands, and there is none of the distortion common in ultra-wide-angle cameras. The maximum magnification when using telemacro is 2x.

If you're interested in using the telemacro, which can be used not only for taking photos, but also as an alternative to a magnifying glass, check out the video Sony released on X (formerly Twitter) at 4 p.m. on July 14.
