Beloved actress Shannen Doherty's doctor has revealed the painful final moments of the actress' life.

The “Beverly Hills, 90210” star died at the age of 53 on Saturday after a long battle with cancer.

In an interview with peopleThe “Charmed” alum's final moments were “sad” and “beautiful,” said oncologist Dr. Lawrence DePiero.

“For the last few hours, she was in a place where she was very comfortable, sleeping and moving, surrounded by some of her very close friends,” Dr. Piro told the newspaper.

“The room was surrounded by a select group of friends who gave her so much care and support. The atmosphere was somber and sad, but beautiful and loving.”

He added that the hardest thing about it was that she wasn't ready to leave because she loved life.

Doherty was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015, and underwent a mastectomy, chemotherapy and radiation. She recovered in 2017, but in February 2020 she announced she had stage 4 breast cancer.

In the June 24 episode of Her podcast “Let's Be Clear”Doherty has spoken candidly about her decision to undergo another round of chemotherapy.

“I had to go back into chemotherapy, which is really hard,” she said at the time. “The thought of going through all of this again devastated me.”

Speaking about the late actress's battle with the disease, Dr. Piro said they “kept fighting until we couldn't go on anymore.”

“In our last conversation, she was realizing that things had taken a very important turn,” he told the newspaper.

“The conversation was about love, support, care, and continuing to fight. She wanted to continue to get treatment and fight, even though her physical condition was deteriorating a little bit. And that's what we did.”

Although the Heathers actress had “a limited set of options,” she wasn't ready to give up.

“It wasn’t even up for debate, because that’s not how Shannen lived. She was an incredible warrior in everything she did,” Dr. Piro added.

Doherty's longtime manager, Leslie Sloan, confirmed her death on Sunday.

“It is with a heavy heart that I confirm the passing of actress Shannen Doherty,” Sloan said in a statement to the newspaper.

“On Saturday, July 13, she lost her battle with cancer after many years of battling the disease,” Sloan continued. “A devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend, she was surrounded by her loved ones as well as her dog, Bowie. The family asks for privacy at this time so they can grieve in peace.”

After her death, she was remembered by fans and friends alike, including many of her “Beverly Hills, 90210” co-stars.
